FKM Fluoroelastomer Rubber Sheet

The only industrial elastomer rated for simultaneous fuel resistance and +300°C continuous operating temperature.

The specification-grade elastomer for oil, fuel, and chemical environments operating beyond the thermal limits of EPDM, nitrile, or neoprene. Chosen by EHS managers and plant engineers across refineries, aerospace, chemical processing globally.

What is a Fluoroelastomer (Viton) Rubber Sheet?

Fluoroelastomer rubber, commercially known as Viton or FKM, is a fluorinated synthetic elastomer engineered for conditions where standard rubber compounds lose structural integrity. It belongs to the ASTM D1418 classification family and is produced with a high fluorine content that gives it resistance to petroleum-based fluids, halogenated solvents, and concentrated acids at elevated temperatures.

Unlike EPDM, nitrile, or neoprene rubber sheets, FKM sheets maintain their mechanical properties across a working range of -40°C to +300°C. This dual capability, extreme heat performance with simultaneous chemical resistance, is why FKM is the specification standard in oil and gas, aerospace, chemical processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Duratuf FKM sheets are compounded at 100% fluoroelastomer polymer concentration. No blended or diluted compound grades. If your application demands full FKM performance, you are specifying a pure-compound sheet.

Ideal for:
  • Gaskets and seals in oil, gas, and refinery operations
  • Fuel system components in aerospace and automotive
  • Chemical plant diaphragms, flange seals, and valve seats
  • High-temperature industrial sealing and expansion joints

Types of Fluoroelastomer Rubber Sheets: Duratuf's Grade

Duratuf's fluoroelastomer range is currently built on a precision-grade compound formulated for the harshest industrial duty:

Technical Specification

Duratuf Fluoroelastomer (Viton) Rubber Sheets: Comparison Table
Product Name Color Tensile Strength Elongation at Break Hardness Specific Gravity Working Temperature (°C)
Testing Standard Specified Value Testing Standard Specified Value Testing Standard Specified Value Testing Standard Specified Value
Fluro75 Pro – Black Black ASTM D412 8.0 MPa (Min) ASTM D412 200% ASTM D2240 75 ± 5° Shore A ASTM D297 1.95 ± 0.05 -40 to +300

Do not specify FKM for steam service, hot water, ketone-based chemicals (acetone, MEK) or amines, these attack fluoroelastomers. For steam applications, specify EPDM. For ketone environments, specify butyl.

How Do We Ensure Certified Quality in our Fluoroelastomer or Viton Sheet?

High Fluorine Content

100% FKM Polymer Purity

Every batch compounded at 100% fluoroelastomer, no blending, no filler substitution. Polymer content verified before production.

Heat Endurance

Thermal Performance Testing

Samples tested at sustained +300°C to confirm no loss of flexibility, dimensional change, or surface degradation under continuous thermal load.

Chemical Testing

Chemical Immersion Testing

Sheets immersed in representative industrial fluids, fuels, acids, and halogenated solvents, to verify no swelling and no reduction in tensile properties.

Density Checks

Density and Dimensional Verification

Every batch measured for specific gravity (1.95 ± 0.05) and sheet dimensions using precision instruments before dispatch.

Key Features of Duratuf Fluoroelastomer (FKM) Sheets

Here are some of the features of Duratuf FKM rubber sheeting:

REACH and ROHS Certified

Free from restricted, hazardous and banned substances, compliant for industrial and export applications across the EU, Americas, and Middle East.

Low Permeability

Dense fluoroelastomer matrix resists fluid transmission under sustained pressure, critical for sealing integrity in fuel lines, chemical systems, and pressurised equipment.

Broad Chemical Resistance

Resists fuels, oils, aromatic hydrocarbons, dilute acids, and halogenated compounds. Not suitable for ketones (acetone, MEK) or amines, see our compatibility guide below.

Thermal Stability: -40°C to +300°C

Maintains hardness, tensile strength, and dimensional form across the full operating range. No embrittlement at low temperature, no softening under sustained high heat.

When you specify Duratuf FKM rubber sheet, you are specifying a material that performs under conditions other elastomers will not.
